Using scripts to add youtube videos to your site

Have you ever wanted to add video to your website? It
sounds like it would be a hard thing to do- but it doesn't
have to be. You don't even have to make your own videos-
youtube offer lots of great video content, and they
actively encourage people to use it on their websites.

There are many benefits to adding video to your website.
For a start- your customers will love it. Some things can
be very hard to learn from text and pictures- but they can
be learnt much better and quicker by watching a video. For
example- a video showing how to install a database can be a
lot easier to understand than text describing how to do
it.

Another benefit is that you have more pages on your
website. The search engines love to see large on-topic
sites. With the "Google Adwords slap", they started
punishing 1 page salesletter sites, often increasing the
cost per click to ridiculous levels. One of the best ways
to deal with this is to add on-topic pages to your site,
and videos can be a great way to do this.

Another benefit is that because visitors have more
interesting content to look at, you will probably get more
pageviews. This will hopefully correspond to higher sales,
or at the very least, higher advertising revenue. And who
doesn't want to be making more money from their website?

There are 2 options for adding video to your site. The
first option is if you wish to add a single video. To do
this, go to youtube, and browse to the video you wish to
use. Now look on the right hand side of the screen, and
look for a "Embed:" title. Once you've found it, copy the
code that is listed underneath. Now just paste that on your
site, and your done!

That's fine for a few videos, but what about when you want
to add a lot more? A great option is to use a script. Once
you've setup your script, it will automatically get the
relevant videos on youtube, and show them on your site. For
example, if you have a widget site, you can setup the
script to automatically display any widget videos (that are
on youtube), on your site. Very handy!

Good scripts will have various options for this- so that
you can specify which keywords to use, how many videos to
display, etc. Ideally you should be able to search based on
relevance (So the best matches for the keywords you're
using are displayed), or by published date (A great way to
add fresh content).

If you're looking for a free script to insert video onto

It doesn't cost anything, is easy to install, and lets you
configure it in various ways, including "negative keywords"
that you don't want to appear in the videos. This lets you
customize the search quite a lot, so that you can show

Problem Solving

Have you ever run into a problem with your computer that brought up an error message? You're really lucky if you've never had to deal with that. Well, when it happens, wouldn't it be nice if you could just capture that error message and send it to someone else so they could help you figure out what's wrong?  Well, there's a way.

Find the Print Screen and Alt buttons on your keyboard and you'll be all set. The PrtScr button is located on the right hand side of your keyboard right next to the Scroll Lock key. (It's also right beside the F12 key on most keyboards). If you hit the Alt and PrtScr keys at the same time, your computer will take a "snapshot" of the active window (which would be the error message). Now, if you want to get a shot of the whole screen, push the Shift key along with the PrtScr key and you'll have it.

Once you have that image captured, you can go and paste it in another program and then send it to your "computer expert" for advice. You can put it in MS Word, Notepad, Wordpad or even an e-mail. It's up to you. Once you have the program you want to put it in open, paste the screenshot. Along with the image, you can type out a description of what you were doing when the problem occurred. That will especially help if you're sending it to someone else to look at. With both the screenshot and the description, they should be able to lead you in the right direction to get things fixed. Having all of that information documented helps if you have to call on some professional tech support.
