Web Traffic to
Your Website or Blog is Very Important
«¤»„«¤»§«¤»„«¤»§«¤»„«¤»§«¤»
For a really successful website or blog,
you need to spend
some time working on ways to get traffic to it. The more
web visitors to your website the better whether you are
blogging for fun, publishing information, or selling a
product. There are a lot of different ways to get traffic
to your website. The most common ways of getting web
traffic are backlinks, pay per click ads, and search
engines. Let's go over each of these methods for
improving web traffic to your website or blog.
Search Engine Traffic
Getting listed in the search engines is one of the best
ways to generate traffic to your site. To get listed in
the search engines, they must first know that your site
exists. Each search engine works a little bit differently
but in general, they must learn that your site exists so
they can "crawl" or "spider" your site. Crawling (or
spidering) is when a search engine finds your site, it
will follow the internal links you have on your pages to
find the other pages on your site. So, be sure to have
internal links to all of the pages you want to get indexed
in the search engines.
Another good way to get the search engines to properly
crawl your site is to have a good sitemap on your site.
Sitemaps are used so search engines (and people) can
easily find any page on your site that you want them to
get to. You can submit your site to search engines or you
can get a link pointing to your site from another site.
This is one of the quickest ways to get listed in the
search engines quicker.
Traffic from Pay Per Click
Even though it is not free, pay per click traffic can be
very effective in getting visitors to your site and based
on the content of your site and the keywords you select,
you may be able to get a lot of traffic at a very low cost.
When using pay per click ads, you basically pay everytime
someone clicks on your ad. The cost typically ranges
between pennies to several dollars per click depending on
the keyword popularity and the amount of competition for
those keywords. Most of the search engines have some sort
of pay per click program. Pay per click ads will get you
traffic almost immediately after you put the campaign
online.
Traffic from Backlinks
One of the best ways for getting traffic to your website
is with backlinks. Backlinks are web links pointing to
your website from other websites. Ideally, you want the
backlinks to be from sites that have high search engine
rankings and are related to the content on your site.
Not only will you get traffic directly from these other
sites, but the search engines will rank you higher because
they look at links from other sites as a "vote" for your
website. So, the more backlinks you can get to your site,
the better.

HOT BIZ*TIP

Special Keys
Does your keyboard have special function keys? These are small
buttons that run along the very top of the keyboard. Different
keyboards have different keys, but the most common ones are an
e-mail button, a search button, a connect button (for the
Internet) and a calculator button. Some even have a sleep mode
function, a volume control right on the keyboard itself and
multimedia keys.
Personally, I love the "mute" button which allows the sound to
be turned off. This is very handy if you visit a site that has
obnoxious music.
These extra keys are very nice to have sometimes, because if you
want to get into your e-mail or use the calculator, for example,
you can just hit that button one time and the program will pop
up on your screen. If you have the buttons, but don't know how
to use them, you should refer to the software that came with
your keyboard. Look through the manual and there should be
instructions on how to configure the buttons so you can start to
use them.
Every keyboard is different, so it's hard to tell you how to
make these work without missing some, but all the answers should
be right there in your manual. Once you get them working, I don't
think you'll ever want to stop!
