Blog Automation 101

«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»

A number of months from now I plan on taking a relaxing
vacation somewhere. While on vacation, I will know that my
blog will be active with new posts, and I will be sitting
somewhere enjoying a nice cold drink. I wouldn't dare
leave my blog unattended. I could lose a fortune if I did
that.

Good friends and customers have come to me asking how I've
managed to set up such a system. In this article, I'll
explain to you exactly what I've explained to them. If you
own an internet business, or just have a blog, feel free to
use this advice for yourself, or, send it to a friend who
will appreciate such advice.

First, my advice doesn't require you to have a business,
but you should have a blog. I'm not talking about one of
those silly free blogs, like blogger.com. I'm talking about
having your own blog, like Wordpress. That way, you'll have
access to the controls and will be able to hit that button
for autopiloting your blog soon enough. Head over to
wordpress.org right now. Download it, and install it on
your site. Within 30 minutes, you should be able to have it
running. If you need extra assistance, the blogcast course
which is available at www.blogcastcourse.com includes a
video guide showing you the appropriate steps to do so.

By now, you should have your blog set up and you should be
ready to write a new entry. Do just that, write a new blog
entry but do not publish your first test post just yet. On
the right side, there will be a feature called "Post
Timestamp". Clicking on that will give you the ability to
adjust the time and date settings for your entry.

Now we will test the Timestamp feature. Pretend that you
have a vacation coming up somewhere in the world. You will
be gone from the first of July to the fifth of July and you
need your blog to automatically post a new entry on each of
these 5 days. We'll do this by simply checking the "Edit
Timestamp" box, then we will just fill out the form
beneath. Choose July in the first field, followed by 1, for
the date, the year, and the time you would like your entry
posted on that day. The time is in 24 hour or military time
so if you want to post an entry at 4pm, simply enter 16.
We're finished with that, so just click on publish. The
entry will now be posted on the date and time you've
chosen. Rinse and repeat with more dates if you wish.

Did the seem like a lot of work? I think it does. Who would
want to write five days worth of blog entries before going
on vacation? Well, I know just the solution. If you run a
business and have employees, what's to stop you from giving
them a task to post a blog entry each day while you're on
vacation? Ok, problem, some people simply don't have
employees. My next step will solve just that.

Set up an intern program. If you don't have one, start one.
You can use such a program to run your blog, or your entire
business on autopilot. I've known a few really successful
entrepreneurs who have done this and have completely
automated their business. They may only work on it a few
hours per week. To do this, create a new website, or use
your existing site to make a section which explains your
new free unpaid internship. Make sure they know that the
benefit is that it will show them what you do to run your
business. You will teach your interns how to do what you do
by giving them small tasks they can perform. A good example
would be for them to write articles for you. Once you've
trained and tracked an interns performance, you can
eventually give them the procedure on how to write a post
for your blog. The unpaid internship concept has worked for
a countless number of successful businesses, and there's no
reason you shouldn't be doing this too.

I recommend using a program like Camtasia Studio which you
can use to capture what you're doing on your computer, and
will record what you're doing on the screen. It will also
record audio from a microphone so you can easily dictate
the steps you are doing, which is the procedure your
interns will follow later.

Now, once your procedures are completed, add each one in as
a follow up message in an autoresponder. Aweber is my best
recommendation. Then, simply create an opt-in form to put
on your website so your websites visitors can join. As you
run your intern program, make sure you are able to track
the performance of your interns. Those who follow all of
your procedures and can complete your tasks may have the
ability to write a good article. You might be able to give
them a procedure to post a blog entry. Always test this
before running on autopilot. The last think you'd want is a
poorly written high school essay on your blog. Consider
designing an intern program before your next vacation.

Missing Files On Startup

If, when you start Windows and get an error message saying that
it can't find a file, you click OK and everything seems
alright, how can you get rid of that annoying message?

This usually occurs when you've uninstalled something that
normally loaded when you started Windows. The program is gone,
but there is still a reference to it floating around somewhere.
First thing to do is write down the name of the file that it
says is missing.

The quickest way to find it is to use msconfig (win98 or
higher). Click your Start button, Run, and type in " msconfig "
(no quotes) and hit OK.

Click the Startup tab and try to locate the program that is
causing the error message. Usually if you look at the end of the
"Command" column you can find the file name that Windows claims
it can't find. Once located, just uncheck it and hit OK.

Make sure you pay attention to what you're unchecking so if you
uncheck the wrong item, you can go back and re-check it if
necessary. Once you're done, reboot and see if that error
message is gone.
