Being a LEARNER, as we define it, could be your secret edge.
You were either born with it or you were not. If you were born with it,
you will never loose it. If you were not born with it, you can learn,
but not like a LEARNER. Martha Stewart is a LEARNER.
She has been quoted as saying that she has to learn something everyday.
If she doesn’t, she will stop at the library on the way home from work,
regardless of the time of day or night.
LEARNER is a Natural Talent. Most people who work at home
have little sense of their Natural Talents, much less how to
build a home based business around them like Martha Stewart.
They are masters at knowing their weaknesses. They will study cash flow analysis,
while their Natural Talents lie dormant and neglected.
This is the first in a series of articles describing 34 Natural Talents.
Your Natural Talents are your secrets to success. Your Natural Talents
are what give you the “edge” in the market place. The purpose of this article
is to help you identify your Natural Talents and what to do with your Natural Talents,
once they are identified.
If you are a LEARNER, you need to start a home based business that uses
your LEARNER Natural Talent. Business plans, cash flow projections,
marketing analysis, etc. are skills that are needed to be successful,
but they can be obtained from courses, workshops or books.
Your Natural Talent is your secret competitive edge.
First, examine, if are you a LEARNER, as we define it. Our definition of LEARNER is:
A person that loves to learn. The process, more than the content is what is exciting
to the LEARNER. They are energized by the steady and deliberate journey
from ignorance to competence. The thrill of the first few facts, the early efforts
to recite or practice what they have learned, the growing confidence of a skill mastered
– this is the process that entices them. This LEARNER’s Natural Talent does not
necessarily mean they seek to become the subject matter expert, or they are
striving for an academic credential. The outcome of the LEARNING is less significant
than the “process of getting there.
A LEARNER can start a home based business such as carpet cleaning,
and be successful. It is much easier and a lot more fulfilling for a LEARNER
to be successful in a home based business that requires a lot of learning
about the new subject matter in a short period of time. For example,
a business that is associated with the fast moving Internet business.
A 20-year study conducted tracked 1,500 people who set out to become wealthy.
Of these people, 1245 decided to go into a line of work that they didn't particularly enjoy,
(carpet cleaning?) but which promised a lot of money. The other 255 did what they loved
(Natural Talent?) hoping the money would follow. 100 of the 255 who did what they loved
eventually became millionaires. Only 1 person in the 1245 who pursued
the money became a millionaire.
LEARNER is only one of the thirty-four Natural Talents that have been
identified by the Gallup organization. The Gallup organization, of the
Gallup Poll fame, interviewed 2 million successful people, spent millions of dollars
and recorded the results for 25 years to identify these Natural 34 Talents.

What a pain in the butt! You go surf to a cool site, and
actually find something of value. As you get ready to spend
some quality time reading, the phone rings. Or the kids bust
something, the dog tears a hole in your new curtains, or your
computer decides to turn a deaf, dumb and blind eye toward
you and take a vacation.
Now what!!
Stuff happens. And even when everything is going smoothly,
you may find there's a particular site you visit ALL the time
and would like to be able to head on over with a click on your
desktop icons. No problem.
With a web page open, you'll see the address bar has a URL in
it. If you're using Explorer, just click on the "e" you see,
hold the mouse button down (the left one) and drag the
address onto the desktop. Of course you'll have to make sure
you can see the desktop behind the browser, at least enough
to make the drop.
To do that, reduce the size of the open page with the middle icon
of the 3 in the top right of your toolbar - next to the X
When you do this, an Internet Explorer icon is created with
the title of the page you've been visiting. Now that's just so
convenient! Next time you want to visit your favorite and
frequently favored page, just double click that icon.
If you're a Netscape fan, drag and drop the Location icon next
to the URL onto the desktop for the same effect.
Need more organization? Just make a folder for your favorites
and organize that way.
Okay, Smartypants, I hear you thinking. "Why don't you just
use the Favorites item that's on the Start Menu? The last
bunches of pages you visited are always in there."
Well, that's fine. And you can. But if you visit a few sites
ALL the time, the desktop is still the best place. It's visual,
easy to see, and a big reminder that's always "in your face."
Incidentally, you can drag the 'e' to your bottom task bar if you
prefer.
