Having spent many years successfully working in small business,
she recognised that many people were spending their precious time being busy,
yet not very productive. She found that most people were too busy being busy.
Although they say wanted more time for themselves and their families,
needed to be healthier and wanted to improve their financial situation,
their actions reflect something totally different. They spent most of
their waking hours at work, leaving minimal time to achieve their own personal goals.

 Will RSS Replace Email?
By Kent Thompson

«¤»„«¤»§«¤»„«¤»§«¤»„«¤»§«¤»

RSS is a big buzz word right now, and this question has been popping up all over the place.

Will RSS ever replace email?

In short, the answer is no.

RSS will never totally replace email because they each do totally different things.

RSS was designed for a totally different purpose than email,
and technologically speaking, it would be impossible for RSS to do everything email can.

Consider this analogy: RSS and Email are like TV and telephone.

If you want to reach a broad audience of spectators,
you use the TV or RSS. Consumers like TV because they
hold the remote and can change the channel at will.
They have total control. Likewise they can an RSS feed
at any time if they so choose, and instantly the source
of information is totally gone, never to return against the person's will.

Email is like the telephone: You can email or call anyone
based on their phone number or email address,
and they can call you or email you back. Consumers like email
and the telephone because of the two-way communication.
But with the two-way communication comes the possibility
of having annoying telemarketers and s.pammers along with it.
And boy do they come!

One is not better than the other because they both serve
two totally different purposes.

In my opinion, RSS is better for reaching a large list of
subscribers because it is 100% s.pam proof and puts
the control into the hands of the consumer.

Why fight the s.pam filters when you can avoid them altogether?

Internet marketers that think they are "more in control"
by using email instead of RSS are somewhat disillusioned.
Consumers can unsubscribe to your email list any time they want to.
If they try to unsubscribe from your list but can't, then you are spamming them.

If you truly offer valuable content, consumers will look forward
to getting your messages whether they come by email or RSS.

Considering the fact that a good number of emails are
getting blocked by s.pam filters, you have a better chance
of reaching more of your subscribers via RSS.

With that said, email will always be necessary on
an individual basis so you can have two-way communication.

RSS was never made for that, and will never fill that role.
But RSS can reach a large group of spectators with a 100% delivery guarantee.
And that is something email just can't match!

Now you can bypass the spam filters altogether by delivering
your newsletter via personalized RSS feed! Kent Thompson's
new software makes it too easy. Check it out!

5.) HOT BIZ*TIP

Cable vs. DSL

If you have the choice between a Cable connection and DSL
connection which is the faster choice? First, for those who are
new to computing, let me define what these are.

Cable Connection - You have a "modem" that your regular cable
line plugs into (you know, the one that normally goes to your
TV). Most are a constant internet connection.

DSL Connection - DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line .

DSL uses your existing phone lines for connection, but at very
high speeds. It is also a "always on" type internet connection
and in a few years may be the # 1 high speed type connection
(cable is now).

Keep in mind that cable is generally a little faster then
"standard" DSL. However, there are newer DSL technologies that
are as fast, or even faster, than a T1 line (a T1 line is really
quick, you can easily host a busy web site, or multiple busy
sites for that matter, with a T1 line). So if you go for one of
these higher speed DSL connections, you'll blow away a cable
modem.

Cable modems have the potential of reaching speeds of 3Mbps, but
keep in mind that you share a wire buried underground with
everyone in your neighborhood. Think of it this way: your car
can do about 120-160 mph, but in rush hour traffic you probably
end up doing about 30 mph. The more cars on the road, the slower
you end up going. Similarly, as more people use cable modems in
your area, the slower your connection gets during peak hours.
You are not guaranteed a certain amount of bandwidth for your
personal use-you must compete with everyone else online at that
time. Most cable internet providers allocate certain amounts of
band width for different areas. If you live in an area with many
cable modem users, then expect occasionally slow connections.

In the end, either one will be a vast improvement over your 56K
modem. You'll probably be going 50 - 100 times faster than what
you currently are. To me, the most important consideration would
be which is more affordable in your area.
