Wow, another year has flown by.
My grandmother used to say, "When you get
older, time
will begin to fly by."
Man, was she right. I'm still getting used
putting 2003
on my checks and we're already in December with 2004
coming at break neck speed.
Well, it's time to start working on writing out
our
resolutions for 2004.
If you're like me, losing weight is a given.
That's been
on my list for as long as I can remember.
The difference is this time around there's a
greater
sense of urgency and my desire is white hot. It's not
wishful thinking this time out of the box.
Desire is the first step in accomplishing any
goal.
If you don't have that burning desire, your
goal is
nothing more than wishful thinking.
First set back and your goal bites the dust.
How do you work up that burning desire to stick
to
your goal?
Hey, you're a marketer. How do you write a
killer sales
letter?
You pile on the benefits. You create a picture
in the
reader's mind of how they'll benefit from your product
or sale.
Well this time, the prospect is you. You're
selling your-
self on the benefits of sticking to your goal.
You have to do more than write your goal down,
you
have to experience it with all your senses.
That's where many of us fail.
We write out our goal and think we're done.
Not true.
If you want to set goals that you'll stick to,
you
have to use all your senses.
If your goal is to make more money in 2004, you
have
to create a movie in your mind.
See yourself performing the service and the
money
flowing in.
Add emotions to your goal. As you visualize the
money
flowing in how will you feel?
Visualize how you'll spend the money.
Will you buy a new house? Picture yourself
living
in your new house.
Do you want a new car? See yourself driving it.
By emotionalizing your goal and experiencing
the end
result, you'll build that burning desire that will
guarantee your success.
If you have problems with visualizing your
goals,
create a treasure map.
Take a picture of the house you want to live
in.
Take a picture of the car you want to drive.
Do whatever it takes to build up that white hot
desire
that nothing can stand in the way of.
Make 2004 your best year ever.
