Hello Exchangers, 


A "Warm Welcome" to all our new subscribers.

The funniest things pop up in my email box.
I get a kick out of some of the subject lines
in all the sp^m I receive. 
"Do you want fries with that?"
That is too much! Not enough to have me
open the darn thing to see what it is about though.

That is why people put in such funky subject lines.
It usually has absolutely nothing to do with the
email itself. They use it as a coax to get you to
open the email and read it. I stopped falling for
that one years ago.

Sp^m is a never ending issue. In a way it is a good
thing that there are so many people fighting it, because
if there were no one, then it would be totally out of hand.
It is a shame that so many businesses have to suffer
because of it, and it is a bigger shame that sp^mmers
give legit businesses a bad name.

My own ezine, TheWizWorld MRC Newsletter, focuses on
the positive side of building an ebusiness. It stresses 
the importance of personal name branding. It also 
stresses that by helping others, we do help ourselves - 
our businesses grow, our name value grows. By displaying
ones own understanding of business, it helps others build 
theirs - and provides them with a resource to turn to to 
ask for help, inquire about joint ventures, and more... you.

By putting yourself out there, with positive advice,
help, products, programs, and resources, the return on
your investment in time and money comes back tenfold.
Word of mouth IS a priceless commodity.

So, it's a strange twist that this article isn't about
any of that - though the above may have lead you to
believe otherwise. Though it most definitely is about
"word of mouth."

What I'd like to cover today is the person out there
who believes that he or she can get away with
anything, rip anyone off, not be accountable for their
actions, and never get caught.

This article serves as notice to dispel that illusion.

Publishers are a huge and close knit community of
hard working individuals. We talk to each other,
assist each other, and sometimes find the need to warn
each other of potential troublemakers, cheaters,
spa*m*mers and the like.

We keep records and we pass this information along.

Just like you, publishers do not want to be the victim
of anyone's sca*m. And we have long, long memories.

We also have resources at our disposal to check out
certain individuals above and beyond our own lists of
"ruh roh!" people. And check them we do.

I know you must receive many ezines that take the time
to warn you, as an online entrepreneur, of programs
and products to avoid. Typically, the publisher
either knows from first hand experience or because an
alert reader, wanting to help others, writes in and
asks that publisher to share their information with
you.

This is a warning with a twist - and one that is truly
unfortunate to even have to mention - a warning
against certain individuals.

Most of us collect IP numbers, we get names, we get
email addresses, we get paypal transactions, we get
credit card information. Let's face it, we get a lot
of information about a lot of people.

While a publisher would never dream of selling any of
this - and most have disclaimers letting you know that
they would never even consider doing it - we do have
the information for our own protection. And, as an
Association of sorts, we share what is necessary to
protect each other.

Thankfully, the world is a good place, filled with
good, honest people just trying to make a living. So,
other than providing a bit of entertainment for you,
you know in your heart of hearts that this article
isn't about you.

But, it's that 0.1% that need to listen up...

For instance...

Did you know that making false credit card claims is a
Federal offense in the United States? We're talking
prison time here... it's not a joke, you can and will
get caught. And the rest of us are here to help ensure
that you do.

From false sp*am reports to outright credit card theft
and fraud, we know who's doing what, who to avoid, who

So while 99.9% of us our happily and honestly building
our businesses, for that 0.1%, the net is getting

Logical Last Chance

If you've got an action you hope a visitor will perform, such as
signing up to your newsletter, buying a product, signing a
guestbook, or whatever the case may be for you, and they exit your
page without doing it, you can still have one more chance to
change their mind.

Let's say you have people on your sales page for an example. If
they click to another page without buying, you can have a pop-up
window open which offers an added incentive like a discount or trial
offer as a last chance message to change their minds. However, if
they click to buy, they won't get the last chance message.

This script will open a pop-up "last chance" window when they click
any link - except the one you want them to click, in which case
they will not receive your last chance message. There are just three
steps to create this whizbang gizmo.

Step one starts with pasting the following code into the HEAD
section of your page:

From the line that starts with "open" to the line that ends with
"width=480'>;" ...should all be on one line, so you'll have to edit out
the hard returns caused by the email formatting.

You will also need to change the URL to the page you want to open
in the pop-up window. You can also change the window size and
attributes if you need to. That completes step one.

In step two you need to add the "last chance" function to your
BODY tag, like this:

<.body onUnload="LastChance()">

These two code bits will cause the pop-up window to open when
they click any link without the code to disable the pop-up window.
And that brings us to step three, which is how to code a link so
that the pop-up window doesn't open. For this step, simply add:

onClick="exit=false"

...to the link(s) you don't want to cause the pop-up window to open
when clicked. Here's an example link with that included:

That's the up and up on the pop-up. I would caution you that pop-up
windows become annoying when overused. Use this tip with due
discretion and consideration for your valued visitors.
