Where's Your Hook?

Have you ever gotten up in the morning and had a song
playing in your head? It's seldom the whole song, it's
usually a catchy line or two from a song.
 
As the day goes on the song follows you wherever you
go. You just can't shake that darned tune.
 
Well in the music business, that catchy line is the
hook. It's designed to grab your attention and keep it.
 
The hook sells songs. It not only sells them, it's
what marketers would call sticky.
 
The record industry is big business. If the hook is so
widely used to pump up their sales, maybe you should
be using it in your business.
 
When writing your sales letters, online web pages and
any other sales material, make sure you have a hook.
 
Marketers have many names for the various hooks they
use. They throw around phrases like magnetic, hypnotic
etc.
 
You don't want your sales letters and ads just skimmed
over, you want them to stick in the readers mind like
glue.
 
You want to pull out your hook and attach it to their
emotions.
 
Why their emotions?
 
Because sales aren't made logically and rationally,
they are made emotionally.
 
Hook their emotions.
 
Make them see beyond where they are. Make them see
their new and improved future.
 
Help them unleash their imaginations. Inspire them to
visualize their healthier, wealthier and happier future.
 
Whip out the hook and make your message sizzle.
 
In the words of Frank Bettinger, "Sell the sizzle, not
the steak."
 
Start using the hook and the next song you sing, will
be on the way to the bank.

"Shrinking Folder Icons"

By default, and by no fault of its own, Windows uses large
icons to display the folders and files on your computer.
These are large compared to the Detail view icons, and can
may soon start running out of space.
 
To change your icon view, do the following:
 
In any window that displays icons, such as My Computer or
Windows Explorer, you will see just under the Title Bar what
is called the Menu Line. Stuff like File, Edit, View, Options,
and Help. These are common Menu items.
 
Click on 'View'.
 
When it opens, you'll see listed among other items, Large
Icons, Small Icons, List, and Details. Try clicking each one.
See how the icons change size? I suggest you select the
Details view if you want to see more info listed about each
folder and file.
 
You will need to scroll up and down the list if you're looking at
your root directory. Argh! What does "root directory" mean - or
is this a gardening tutorial?
 
If you look only at your (C) drive, and don't open any folders,
you are in the "root" directory. Or "root" folder. Just like a tree
and its branches come from the root, your computer's files
and folders all find their root in the (C) directory or folder.
(Folder and Directory can be used to mean the same thing.)
 
So there you go. The whole point of these tutorials is to help
you become more comfortable with your computer, and to
