Are You Helping Internet Terrorists?

Most of warnings are hoaxes...

... but this one is a very serious warning:
There is a new virus (discovered 09/18) that impacts
people using Outlook, Outlook Express and Microsoft
Explorer. The name of the virus is Nimda. On a scale
one to five it's four. This is for real, my friends!
More details at the bottom of this message.
But before you go to the bottom, please read this to
make sure that you are not among those who support
Internet terror:
Some warnings are dangerous
----------------------------
The majority of virus warnings you receive via e-mail
are just annoying and wasting people's time. But some
of those warnings are very dangerous.
For example, one of those recent bogus warnings urged
people to remove the "virus" from their system. Sadly,
the file was vital for windows operation. Those who
followed the advice and removed it, had to rebuild
their systems. Ouch!
Please, always examine thoroughly a message that urges
you to forward it to everyone on your list. Otherwise
instead of helping someone, you can just cause damage
to the property of people who trust you.
Red flags
---------
Be especially alert if the warning urges you to pass
it on to all your friends. Do not! This alone should
raise your red flag that the warning is a hoax.
Another flag to watch for is when the warning states that
it is a Federal Communication Commission (FCC) warning.
According to the FCC, they have not and never will issue
warnings on viruses. It's not part of their job.
Rarely appreciated
-------------------
If you send these messages around, chances are you will
annoy majority of your recipients who received the same
e-mail already *many* times. They might not tell you about
it to be polite (or rather from lack of time) but don't
assume that just because no one complains, these messages
are appreciated by most of your recipients.
Indeed, most likely you are just bugging people instead
of saving the world or building relationships...
When it comes to forwarding, be *very* discriminate and
help us un-clutter our mail boxes and UN-congest the net.
ALWAYS check the facts. E-mails like "Danger!" or "Virus
Alert"
or "A little girl is dying" are well known chain letters
created especially to waste people's time.
Confirm the news
----------------
It takes some time to separate the wheat from the chaff
but if you plan to forward anything to people you care
about, you MUST do it. If you don't care enough, why
bother with *any* warning?

Always ALWAYS check the facts! Otherwise you might be forwarding
false virus warning and rumors -- helping no one but this
new breed of terrorists: the Internet terrorists!
What are their goals? To scare as many people as possible,
as fast as possible. To cause property damage.

Don't help Internet terrorists reach their goals!
About that nasty Nimda virus...

I urge you to check your computer. This one is spreading
so rapidly, that if you don't have the most current virus definition
(installed *after* September 18), your computer might be
already infected without you knowing it.
The virus might be causing damage to your own system --
and it might be spreading automatically to your network
of co-workers, clients and friends.
