HOW TO SNIFF OUT A SCAM

Allan Wilson of http://www.ebookresellerkit.com
writes about a scam email he got. Asked him to
supply his credit card details to pay his AOL
internet bill.

The website given looked legit, with the AOL
logo and all. But there were tell-tale signs.

* Mis-spellings raised his suspicions. Correct
spelling is one mark of professionalism.

* Clever nearly-right names like BilI-@aol.com
(where the 4th letter is a capital "i").

* The addresses of multiple recipients were
given for all to see. Again, not the way to do it.

But what if the scammer doesn't make these
mistakes next time? Would you get caught?

     Not if you do this...

* Strip away the URL extension ("/billing.html").
Allan found a freebie website. Gotcha!

* Stay alert!

Do what you fear and watch the fear disappear.
How would you live your life if your fears couldn't
stop you?

This isn't about eliminating fears. 
It's more about recognizing them,
acknowledging their existence,
and living your life and pursuing your dreams,
regardless of any fears you may have.

It would take years of therapy and countless
sessions to actually lose fears in your life. 
Chances are, you'd end up living with them anyway!

So, what do you do when fear strikes?
  
Begin to think of your fears as your "inner
critic."  Notice I didn't say "inner voice."

Your "inner critic" speaks louder than your inner
voice.

The critic drowns out the message of "love, wisdom,
and encouragement", replacing it with one of "self
doubt, self pity, and negative self talk."

Your "inner critic" doesn't want you to know this
particular truth:

F--False
E--Evidence
A--Appears
R--Real
 
That's right!  Fear isn't real!  It only leads you
to worry.  And, worry is just a shadow that you can't
see that follows you around!

Susan Jeffers, Ph.D., wrote a book that has a title
that says it all:  "Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway!"

The title suggests that you don't need to concern
yourself with eliminating fear.  Instead, do what
needs to be done to be where you want to be in
your life.
 
Your "inner critic" is going to do his/her best to
convince you that you aren't worthy of prosperity,
so why even bother!

Your "inner critic" is going to suggest that
success is futile with your business,
so what's the use!

Below are short takes on 3 individuals who
went on to become successful, despite their fears.
I used different names for 2 of them to protect
their identities.  And, YES--they do exist.

(1)  Roy is a successful and wealthy marketer. 
One day I asked him if he'd ever had a
fear of calling on prospects for the first time. 

I was amazed when he admitted that he went through a
period when he stuttered, for fear of saying the
wrong thing while giving a presentation.

Finally, he decided to carry on, NO MATTER WHAT!
Instead of becoming paralyzed by his critic when
it came time to call a prospect, he used that
critic's voice for motivatation by reminding him
of what he *didn't* what his life to return to.
 
He felt the fear and did it anyway!

(2)  Sadie is a songwriter who is well known
and successful in the music business. One day,
while I was singing on a demo session for her,
I asked her if she ever felt like giving up and
going home at any point in her life.

She confessed that, even though, she had won
numerous awards and enjoyed some local success
in Memphis, she began to doubt her abilities
after moving to Nashville. 

Her inner critic kept reminding her that
there were so many other talented writers,
so what chance did she ever have of making it?

She said there were nights when she would break
down and cry.  She started to become inhibited
about showing her work to others.  

This happened during her 8 years of struggling
before she got her first publishing deal.

Finally, she came to the conclusion that it
didn't matter what others thought, especially that
nagging critic of hers.

She has gone on to become one the most sought
after songwriters in the industry with #1 hits
on her resume!.
 
She felt the fear and did it anyway.

(3)  Finally, Bill Russell is considered by many
to be one the best basketball players in NBA history. 
His record of 11 championships in 13 years with the
Boston Celtics through the '50's and 60's, speaks
for itself.  It's been said that he made a great
team become THE BEST.

I once read in an early biography about him,
though, how his nerves would affect him before
each game.  He would get upset, nauseated and
vomitous before taking the court.  Yet...
  
He felt the fear and...you know the rest.

Your "inner critic" is not your personal voice.  It
usually takes on the voice of someone you might
know or knew.  Dismiss that critical voice so you
can take charge of your life.

Next time, your "critic" starts spouting off before
you tackle the task at hand, let him or her, rattle
on.  Then just think about what your life will be
like when you get to work, and challenge yourself
to...
