10 Step Checklist for Successful Ezine Advertising

Ezine advertising will fail for many different reasons, the
most common mistake most marketers make is not taking the
proper precautions to achieve good results. Over the years I
have came up with a 10 step checklist that I use to
accomplish the goals I've set for my advertising. Follow
this checklist when placing your ads and you'll be closer to
getting the response you want.
Step #1: Choose Ezines Carefully
To pick the best ezine in which to place your ad make sure
it reaches your target market. If the ezine is not going to
the proper audience, you'll be wasting your money. Ezines
with a readership that are interested in your offer will
produce the best response rates, so be sure you know what
target market a publication is aimed at.
Step #2: Go For Responses and Not Sales
The goal of your advertising is to get someone to act now
and request additional information. It's a simple fact that
many ads fail because they try to make the "sale." To get
the best results from your ad, narrow in on the top benefit
your prospect will receive from your offer and motivate them
to take action now.
Step #3: Get To The Point
Time is important to people so don't waste it. Your ad needs
to be brief and to the point. Use the time proven method of
getting "Attention," developing "Interest," creating
"Desire," and calling for "Action." If you plan your
advertising right you'll be able to follow-up on your
prospect with as much information as they need to make a
purchase.
Step #4: Provide An Incentive To Take Action
If you offer a free sample or free report you can greatly
improve your response rate. Once you capture a prospects
email address you are able to follow-up with additional
information about your products and services. There is no
better way to get someone to respond to your ad than to
offer something free.
Step #5: Be Sure To Call For Action
There are tons of ads out there that fail to tell you what
to do next. Be sure that your prospect knows what you want
them to do. Tell them how to get more information or how to
get the freebie you're offering. Do you want them to email
you, call, write, visit a web site, etc? Tell them exactly
how to do it.
Step #6; Track Your Ads
Successful ezine advertising can't happen without keeping
track of how ads perform. I won't go into all of the various
ways you can track your advertising. Just be sure that you
are tracking every ad you place. This will be the most
valuable information you can have about your business.
Step #7: Follow-Up With Every Prospect
So many marketers are wasting their money by placing ads and
getting prospects to respond only to never follow-up. When
you get someone to respond to your ad they are showing
interest in your offer. A one shot sales effort on your part
is not enough. Once a prospect learns about your offer you
are in the perfect position to give them all the information
they need. Persistent follow-up methods will increase your
sales and profit as much as 3 times. Consider what the extra
sales will do for your wallet.
Step #8: Test, Test, Test
If you want to produce the response rates your business
needs to succeed you will have to test every aspect of you
advertising. Changes can be made in your ad that could make
your efforts pay off better or worse. The only way you can
know what effects making changes will do is to test. Try out
different headlines. Revise the copy. If these changes
produce better results, stay with them. If the changes
produce worst results, go back to what you had before. By
fine tuning your ads this way, you are guaranteed to get
the most for your money.
Step #9: Be Prepared For Your Prospects
Before you place one ad you need to be prepared for the
responses you will get. The best way to handle responses is
with a follow-up autoresponder. These autoresponders are
programmed to go out to your initial response and start an
automated schedule for your follow-ups. Statistics show you
may have to contact your prospects 7 times or more before
making a sale. Research shows 60% plus of people will NOT
buy the first time they receive your offer.
Step #10: Have Reasonable Objectives
Set goals that you can achieve. Don't expect to make
thousands of dollars from an ezine ad. If you do this you'll
just be disappointed. Your goal can be much more attainable
if it is specific and realistic. An example of a specific
objective would to get 50 people to request your free report
so that you will be able to follow-up with over and over.
Conclusion
Ezines can be the most effective use of your of your
advertising dollars. You will need to avoid the most common
mistakes that marketers make. If you follow this 10 step
checklist you'll be taking the proper precautions to achieve
good results from your ads. These steps are designed to make
your advertising more productive and profitable.
