How about some new resolutions for your business?

Ah, it's that time of year again for New Years Resolutions. When
we swear to eat less, exercise more, spend more "quality"
time
with the family -you know the drill.
But how about making powerful New Years Resolutions for your
business or online venture to really power it through the long
month of January and beyond? After all, unless you're selling
Christmas gifts & goods, December was likely a slow month, when
most peoples thoughts turned to office parties and holidays.
Firstly, lets look at some dictionary definitions:
Resolution - firmness of purpose, formal decision
Resolute - determined; bold
New Years resolution - vague decision quickly forgotten come
mid-January
OK, the last one's mine! But it illustrates that a resolution
should be firm & rock solid. No wavering.
Lets start with " this year we're going to make tons of
profit".
Trouble is, that's too vague. Sit down for ten minutes or so,
and look back over the last year. Are there any areas where you've
been a bit weak? Where can you improve? More visitors, would
mean increased profits perhaps, so how about resolving to promote
your business more. Do it regularly in small increments, say
1/2 hr a day? Is your product line weak - then resolve to expand
your product base - maybe adding a new product every month. Not
enough time to do this? Then maybe you need to resolve to automate
your business more.
What haven't you been doing to the best of your ability? Are
you slack on follow-ups perhaps? If you resolve to do everything
to the best of your ability, then success is only a matter of
time.
Break it down into tangible resolutions to kick-start 2001. Resolutions
that are specific enough to follow, not vagaries that get lost
come the middle of January. If you've had a quiet December, and
lazy holidays, January can be a bit hectic, and it's difficult
to keep that focus sometimes under the mountain of activity.
Your resolutions will preserve your focus and keep you on track.
