Last week we discussed the essentials to
creating your own product. Now that we
know how to create a product, the next
essential step is to market your product.
This is where many business people give
up. It is not only a matter of WHERE you
market, but HOW you market.
Trust me when I say, " You Cannot market
a Product without a Website. We have
all basically heard this one before, but it
is the KEY to Successful Marketing.
There are thousands of webdesigners
out there, if you are uncomfortable doing
one on your own. And many designers
are very fairly priced.
Your website does not only have to offer
your product. In fact it SHOULD NOT only
offer your product. Collect some real
valuable Freebies. There are a ton of them
out there. OR, take it one step further,
buy something of value. Spend alittle of the
business funds, and make sure you
have reseller rights. This is something of value
that most businesses SELL, but You Give Away!
That is a big attraction!!!! Make sure your Freebie
is somewhat related to the target market of your
product. You want to attract a certain target market,
so if you give something away, it needs to be
something of interest to them.
Now to Start Marketing:
** Marketing includes Network Marketing.
That means getting your business name out
in the open to the public.
Even if you just show up for community functions,
the word spreads faster than wildfire.
This means joining the Rotary, Kiwanis,
Chamber of Commerce, etc...
NOT GLAMOROUS but necessary.
And have plenty of Business cards handy.
** Start Advertising your Product.
Use a variety of advertising so you can see
what your niche is. You may
want to start off small.
Use a very affordable and productive way to advertise,
like Ezine and newsletter advertising.
Then you can start expanding your
advertising, like in newspapers, radio,
or banner impressions. I state banner
impressions, cause the only really good
ones are expensive.
Do Not use banner exchanges, they do not work.
Advertising is just about the hardest
part of marketing, because not all avenues
of advertising will work for you.
You just have to be realistic and test the various
avenues. And do not get upset when one theory
does not work.
**Spread the word about your Freebie
and your product around in newsgroups.
This will open up other resources
for you. Visit these newsgroups on a weekly basis and
get personal, but on a professional level,
so you can build trust and confidence.
** Start your own newsletter.
Either a web site newsletter for all your visitors or
an email newsletter.
You may want to stick with the web site newsletter
until you establish a mailing list.
**Add a guestbook to your site so
people can make comments and so you can
build your clientele list. You can even
ask your visitors for their email address so you can inform
them of specials and events that involves your product line.
Please remember that you cannot depend on one avenue
of marketing. You have to use all the various avenues.
Do not just stick with what you like the best. You will
constantly have to use all the marketing resources in order
to keep the market hot for your product.
I have only mentioned the basics of how to start
marketing your product. Once you get involved
in the basics, you will start to learn more and experience
more about the other avenues you can take to keep the

is a big start to keeping in tuned with the most up-to-date
marketing resources and tools.
